Our school

Riverside Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in the East Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The school received the 2024 Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education and earned a 3-Star Progress rating, recognizing measurable academic growth among its students.

The school operates on a whole-child, college-preparatory model. Academics are rigorous, but the school treats academic achievement and social-emotional development as inseparable. The "Circles of Power and Respect" program and the Resiliency Builder curriculum are built into the school day, giving students structured time to practice relationship skills, self-regulation, and the emotional habits that make academic progress stick.

Middle school students have access to a Career-Based Intervention class that introduces career exploration and readiness before high school. That's unusual for a K-8 school and gives students a head start on thinking about what comes after graduation.

Clubs run the range: arts and crafts, dance, LEGO engineering, National Honor Society, test prep tutoring, yearbook, basketball club, and flag football club. The school aims for two field trips per year, connecting classroom learning to the world outside the building.

Support services include on-site counseling through partnerships with Kids Thrive, suicide awareness programming through 1in5, and additional support from Lighthouse Youth Services. Free breakfast and lunch are served daily. Transportation is provided by Cincinnati Public Schools for students living 1.25 to 5 miles from campus. Free full-day kindergarten is available, with early entrance for students who turn 5 by December 31 and pass an assessment.

There is no tuition, no application fee, and no cost to families.

Riverside Academy is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability.
